VOLUNTEER TUTORS AND MENTORS NEEDED
SENECA STREET CDC
DESCRIPTION: Picture it. A student sits down to complete their homework. They begin to struggle and are about to give up. But then you sit down ready to tackle and break down the first problem with them. You walk them through the it. The student just isn't getting it. You re-explain it, just in a different way. And it clicks. You see the bulb light up. It finally makes sense.
Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer experience? Are you interested in helping young students succeed?
Consider volunteering at the Seneca Street CDC!
We aim to provide our students with an outstanding after-school experience. We provide designated time during the After School program in which our students receive homework assistance from volunteers. Since many of our volunteers are from Daemen College and the University at Buffalo, we experience a true need for new volunteers in the month of January when college students are on their winter breaks. But also needed through the year.
After homework time students are divided into groups and participate in enrichment activities such as, Girls on the Run, Arts and Crafts, Music Lessons, Videography, Gym and Computer Lab. The day wraps up in the dining room where the students are provided a free hot home-made dinner before going home for the evening.
Our program operates Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday between 3:00pm and 6:00 pm. Please feel free to contact Beth Ewen for more information at bewen@senecastreetcdc.org. or call 716-939-3501
